Ambassador Júlio Maiato delivers figured letter to UAE authorities

The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Angola to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Júlio Maiato, today (15.06.2023), delivered the Letters to the Deputy Undersecretary for Protocol Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Seif Al Shamsi, in Abu Dhabi, political and administrative capital of this country in the Middle East.

At the ceremony, attended by representatives of MOFA and the Embassy of Angola, the need to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various areas with a focus on strengthening economic and business relations was emphasized, with emphasis on the high levels of cooperation achieved so far.

However, the high-level visits made, with emphasis on those of President João Lourenço to the United Arab Emirates, contributed to this feat. In this new vision, the two countries intend to increase commercial exchanges more and more and attract a greater number of investors, as well as establish more cooperation agreements, preserving the agreements already initialed.

Diplomatic relations between Angola and the UAE were formally established on 11 January 1997.

There was a significant increase in cooperation with the countries covered, particularly with the United Arab Emirates, in almost all sectors of the economy, with a greater exchange of visits by delegations at ministerial level, with a view to implementing mutually advantageous projects. With regard to business cooperation, a growing number of public and private companies in the Emirates have been looking for business and investment opportunities in Angola, and Angolan businessmen are gradually discovering the potential of the Middle East market. In addition to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), currently part of the coverage area of ​​the Embassy of the Republic of Angola in Abu Dhabi, the State of Kuwait, the Kingdom of Bahrain, Afghanistan (currently the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan), and the Islamic Republic Pakistan, as well as the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), based in Abu Dhabi.

Ambassador Júlio Maiato, appointed on March 7, 2023, replaced Ambassador Albino Malungo who performs the same functions in the Republic of Zambia.
